| It
is very important when planning and designing your kitchen that you
choose the right doors for your kitchen units. There are a range of
styles and designs available, a selection of door styles and types are
listed below.
Plain
Board- Coloured or woodgrain MFC (Melamine Faced Chipboard)
which is lipped all round. These will generally be the least expensive
door choice.
Vinyl
Wrap Moulded - Moulded from MDF (Medium Density Fibre-board)
and ‘wrapped’ using heat and vacuum with a thin vinyl sheet.
Vinyl
Wrap Framed - The false ‘wood-grain’ with a wood
door can be a problem due to the vinyl only running in one direction.
By framing the material and centre panels which are then vinyl-wrapped
separately in order to be cut and assembled to give the impression of
a solid wood door.
Wood
- Hand-crafted from the exact solid wood you specify and deep-waxed
for feel and smell. This is generally the most expensive option, however
for a least expensive option these are likely to be machine-made in
something like Pine and then stained and varnished in a wide range of
hardwood colours. Please note that there are a huge variety of options
between these.
Many
other types of specialist doors are available such as solid glass and
metal-finishes, but some are not suitable or practical with certain
kitchen designs.
When
planning and designing your kitchen it is also good to remember that
not all Kitchen Doors have to be solid, you could choose to display
your items behind framed glass cabinet doors or alternatively on open
shelf units.
Once
you have decided which style of door to use in your new kitchen, one
of your next steps is to decided which type of handle would best compliment
your style of door. The images below are a small sample of many different
types of handles are available.
